NXP MIFARE Classic EV1 4K 7UID Smart Card
The NXP MIFARE Classic EV1 4K is a contactless smart-card IC designed for applications using the established MIFARE Classic platform. The 4K version provides nominal 4 kB EEPROM and is organized into 32 sectors with 4 blocks and 8 sectors with 16 blocks. Each block contains 16 bytes.
For this product configuration, the 7-byte UID is the key identifier requirement. NXP’s documentation distinguishes the 7-byte UID version from the 4-byte NUID version, so buyers should specify the required UID configuration when ordering.
The card supports contactless data and energy transfer without a battery and provides a typical RF data rate of 106 kbit/s. The operating distance can reach approximately 100 mm, depending on the antenna, reader and installation environment.

The IC-level specifications above are based on NXP’s MF1S70YYX/V1 documentation; finished-card dimensions, materials, antenna performance and personalization depend on the selected card construction.
7-Byte UID vs 4-Byte NUID
One important purchasing consideration is the identifier configuration.
The MIFARE Classic EV1 4K family supports both 7-byte UID and 4-byte NUID variants. NXP specifically identifies the 7-byte UID versions within the MF1S70 product family.
Therefore, if your existing access-control, RFID or identification system requires a 7-byte UID, specify:
NXP MIFARE Classic EV1 4K – 7-byte UID
Do not assume that every MIFARE Classic EV1 4K card has the same UID configuration. The 4-byte NUID and 7-byte UID versions should be treated as separate purchasing requirements.
4K Memory Organization
The 4K EEPROM is arranged as:
- 32 sectors containing 4 blocks each
- 8 sectors containing 16 blocks each
- 16 bytes per block
- Sector trailers contain access-control information
- Data blocks can be configured for read/write or value-block operation
NXP documentation notes that a successful authentication is required before memory operations can be performed.
This architecture makes the card suitable for established MIFARE Classic systems that require more memory than a 1K implementation.
Contactless RFID Operation
The NXP MIFARE Classic EV1 4K communicates through contactless RF technology rather than physical electrical contacts. The card receives both data and operating energy wirelessly, so no battery is required.
Its 13.56 MHz ISO/IEC 14443 Type A interface makes it suitable for compatible RFID readers and contactless systems. Actual read distance depends on the reader, antenna geometry, card construction and surrounding environment.
Applications
NXP MIFARE Classic EV1 4K 7UID Smart Cards can be used for a range of contactless identification and access applications, including:
- Access control
- Employee identification cards
- School and university cards
- Campus access
- Parking cards
- Public transportation
- Event ticketing
- Electronic toll collection
- Loyalty programs
- Internet cafés
- Membership cards
- Physical access management
- Existing MIFARE Classic infrastructure
Market suppliers similarly list MIFARE Classic EV1 4K cards for access control, cashless vending, parking, transportation, education, sports clubs and events.
Custom MIFARE Classic EV1 4K Smart Cards
AFT India can support custom card requirements depending on the project specification, including:
- Custom card printing
- White blank RFID cards
- Full-color artwork
- Card numbering
- Variable data
- Barcode or QR code
- RFID card personalization
- Chip encoding
- Custom card dimensions or construction
- Bulk and volume orders
- Custom RFID card projects
For a custom requirement, provide the chip type, UID requirement, card material, card thickness, artwork, quantity, encoding requirements and application/readers so the card configuration can be matched correctly.
Important Compatibility Note
If you are replacing an existing MIFARE Classic card, confirm the reader, UID format, sector layout, keys, access conditions and application memory requirements before placing a large order.
NXP’s documentation confirms that the MF1S70 family has both 7-byte UID and 4-byte NUID configurations.
For a new security architecture, buyers should also evaluate whether a newer MIFARE product family is more appropriate. Current product references note that MIFARE Classic EV1 is primarily relevant where compatibility with an existing MIFARE Classic deployment is required.
