World-Class Validation with FIPS 140-3, Level 3 Certification
This secure flash drive is FIPS 140-3 Certified, Level 3, the highest-level in certification, helping organizations meet and exceed the high demands of security regulations and standards. The Defender 3000 has been validated for FIPS 140-3 Level 3 Certification, the very latest in the NIST security standard. This highest standard helps you meet the most stringent federal, healthcare and financial industry security regulations, including GDPR, HIPAA, Sarbanes Oxley, GLBA, and more. As a FIPS 140-3 secure flash drive, you can be assured the Defender 3000 hardware encrypted USB is of the highest-level, military-grade data security.
FIPS 140-3 is the latest certificate in a joint Certification program between NIST (National Institute of Standards) in the United States, and CSE (Communications Security Establishment) in Canada. It provides government guidelines regarding the security evaluation for cryptographic modules. Kanguru Solutions demonstrates that by meeting the level 3 threshold of FIPS 140-3, the Defender 3000 has strong, tamper evident protections in place to prevent unauthorized access, attack, or brute force attempts to gain access to the sensitive data.
CMMC Level 1 Foundational Cybersecurity Practices
Kanguru is committed to supply chain security, aligning with CMMC Level 1 foundational cybersecurity practices to protect Federal Contract Information (FCI). CMMC Level 1 demonstrates that the Kanguru manufacturing process of building secure drives also meets the highest standards.
Brute Force Protection / Water Proof / Tamper Proof Design with IP68 Rating
The Kanguru Defender 3000 encrypted flash drive uses built-in brute-force protection with a rugged alloy casing and a water-resistant epoxy compound containing the cryptographic controller which prevents physical access. Any subversive attempt to remove the epoxy compound destroys the flash chip, rendering it unusable and inaccessible. The Defender 3000 has a IP68 rating, demonstrating its waterproof and dust proof protection makes it an ideal option for tough environments. IP68 is a rating under the Ingress Protection (IP) standard, defined by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission).
This standard shows how well a device is protected against solids (like dust) and liquids (like water). The Defender 3000 has proven that it is completely dustproof, and can withstand being submerged in water with the cap on for up to 1M for one hour.
Highly Resistant to Quantum Attack
The Defender 3000 uses the best AES 256-Bit encryption methods available, making it highly resistant to a Quantum attack. Learn more about AES 256-bit Hardware encryption.
FIPS 197, 256-bit AES Hardware Encryption (XTS Mode)
The Kanguru Defender 3000 secure thumb drive uses FIPS 197 Certified AES 256-bit Hardware encryption (XTS-Mode) to secure data contents stored on the USB drive. Since the cryptographic processes are all done in hardware, there is virtually no performance impact when transferring data, unlike the severe performance impact when using software encryption programs. XTS-mode also provides enhanced protection when used to encrypt large blocks of data (as in GB’s) as it eliminates certain vulnerabilities and patterns which might be exploited in earlier symmetric key implementations. In addition, the password matching and other security operations are all done in the secure confines of the tamper-resistant, epoxy encapsulated cryptographic processor. In short, your data can not be compromised.

RSA-2048, Digitally-Signed Secure Firmware
Protect even more than just your data. Protect your network and infrastructure as well from malware tampering with built-in RSA-2048, Digitally-Signed Secure Firmware. Designed in compliance with NIST’s requirements for securing device firmware, this drive is protected from “badUSB” to prevent malware attacks by a third-party. In the event of such an attack, the drive is designed to shut down, preventing the flash drive from being used as a vehicle for hackers. This makes it an ideal, trusted encrypted USB drive for whitelisting in an endpoint security environment.
USB 3.0 Interface
This hardware encrypted thumb drive offers USB 3.0 technology (USB 3.2 Gen 1×1) for lightning-fast data transfers, while also maintaining compatibility with USB 2.0. Connecting the Defender 3000 to a USB 3.0 supported USB port provides superior read / write speeds for quick, easy and convenient transfer of data.
OnBoard, World-Class Anti-Virus By Bitdefender®
Every Kanguru Defender hardware-encrypted flash drive comes with integrated onboard antivirus by award-winning Bitdefender (30-day FREE trial)(1). Built right into this secure usb flash drive, the antivirus consistently scans the drive in the background, ensuring that all of your files will be safe and protected from viruses.
